Feeling your feelings
Without the substance, feelings hit harder. That's scary, but it's also a sign of recovery.
Many people used so they wouldn't feel anything. Sadness, anger, fear or loneliness were pushed away. When you stop, those feelings come back, sometimes all at once. You may suddenly cry over something small or get angry over nothing.
Feelings aren't dangerous, even if they feel that way. They come and go, just like cravings. The more you let them in, the faster they settle.
Try to name your feeling: I'm sad, I'm disappointed. Just naming it calms your mind. Write it in your journal or tell someone.
