Eating without the comfort
Then
Fatima ate candy when she was sad, when she was tired, when she was happy. In the evening she finished whole bags in front of the TV. She felt guilty and ate again because of it. Her doctor warned her about diabetes.
The turning point
One evening she wrote down what she was feeling right before she walked to the cupboard. Every time it said the same thing: lonely. She joined a walking group and agreed with her sister to call every evening.
Now
For two years Fatima hasn't eaten candy for comfort. Her blood tests are good. She walks three times a week and made friends along the way. She says: it was never about the candy. It was about the hole I was filling with it.
