Friends who still use
What do you do with the people you always used with? A hard but important question.
There are often people your using was tied up with. Your bar friends, your using buddies, maybe even family. They can be fun and important to you. Still, at first they're a big risk.
You don't have to cut all ties right away. But it's wise to keep your distance in the first months, or only see them in places and at times where nobody is using. During the day, over coffee, on a walk.
Do you notice they tempt you or don't take your quitting seriously? Then keeping your distance is an act of self-protection. That's allowed, even if it hurts.
At the same time, build new connections: in your group, at a meeting, in a sport or hobby. That makes room for people who support your recovery.
